Kim Rosebud (b. 1992, Long Island) is a self-taught abstract painter based in Vermont, whose work explores the emotional and energetic resonance of color and movement. Guided by intuition rather than preplanned ideas, she transforms emotion into layered visual compositions that often reflect the organic flow and energy of the natural world. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, her paintings serve as an expression of feeling and connection, inviting the viewer into a space of rhythm and reflection. Her exhibitions include Expressions of the Soul (Venn Bushwick, Brooklyn, 2022), The Family Show (La MaMa Galleria, New York, 2023), the 105th Annual Juried Exhibition (Greenwich Art Society, CT, 2022), and Abstraction (SEABA, Burlington, VT, 2025). Kim is represented by Curina NYC and has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions across the Northeast. Her paintings are held in private collections in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Philadelphia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Spain, and the Netherlands.
“My paintings explore emotion, energy, and the freedom that comes from surrendering to the process. Working with acrylic and oil, I build intuitive layers of color and movement that unfold without a plan. Each piece unfolds like a puzzle, guided by emotion and rhythm rather than control.
I spend a lot of time in nature, and it has become an important part of how I recharge and stay connected. I am inspired by the shapes, colors, and energy I find outdoors in animals, trees, and landscapes. Even when I am not consciously painting these things, that organic energy finds its way into my work. Painting is how I express emotion and connect with something beyond myself, translating the life around me and within me into color and movement.”
